Fidedignos afirman que dicho municipio fue fundado entre los a\u00f1os 1865-1870, muy cerca de la anexi\u00f3n a la espa\u00f1a hecho por Pedro Santana en el a\u00f1os 1861.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Es el m\u00e1s joven, peque\u00f1o y de menor poblaci\u00f3n de los ocho municipios que pertenecen a la provincia de Puerto Plata.
